Based on his symptoms and constitution, three doses of Opium 1M were given to the child. Parents were advised to get relevant investigations done in which the Dengue NS1 report came positive. Parents were counseled to provide the prescribed homeopathic medicine one dose daily and maintain hydration. The next day parents reported that temperature was about 100^o F, child activity and appetite improved. Accordingly treatment, it was advised to continue the homeopathic medication. After two days parents stated that his temperature was average, his platelets were adequate, and regular activity. Rohit recovered from Dengue entirely in a short time without any lingering effects.

Case 2:  A Case of Covid-19 and Homeopathy Treatment

Mr. Sharma* is a forty-five-year-old businessman. After a visit to a neighboring state for business, he came down with sneezing and a runny nose. Later he developed a deep cough as if the throat was filled with phlegm, a vague headache, loss of smell, and fever. He got an RT-PCR test done, which came favorable to his despair as he took homeopathy treatment with us for migraine headaches. He contacted us immediately. We took his symptoms, and he revealed that he had become more restless, unable to have a fitful sleep, and developed an unknown fear. He liked to drink warm water, food was tasting metallic, bowels were frequent, urine was clear, and thermals were chilly. Based on his symptoms, three doses of Arsenicum Album 1M was given, and the patient was asked to inform us about his progress in two days. After two days, he gave a call and reported that the fever has subsided, but the cough was still present, though the intensity had reduced to some extent. We advised him to continue with the same medication. After another three days, he reported that his cough reduced by more than ninety percent, and he was feeling much better, the taste had improved, and restlessness had come down. He continued on the path of recovery without any hindrance.

Case 3: A Case of Bacillary Dysentery and Homeopathy Treatment

A three-year-old girl child was brought to the clinic with a complaint of frequent stools mixed with blood and mucus. Before passing the seat, the child would be crying violently with pain. She had the habit of eating mud, chalk, licking walls, and eating indigestible things, and parents also complained that the child was very hyper, would not sit still even for a moment, and had a very aggressive nature. She would hit and pinch others, and her demands had to be fulfilled immediately. They also revealed that this was not the first time she was having this type of stool; she keeps having it frequently on and off, for which they had to use antibiotics many times to control it. Based on her history and symptoms, three doses of Merc Cor 1M were given. Within two days, parents reported that blood stools had stopped. When we think of summer we remember the heat, desire for coconut water or cold drinks, lassi, ice creams. And then we get terrified by the heat affects like excessive sweating especially in the scalp which brings back all the latent itching and other symptoms of the scalp.

Scalp is a sensitive area of the skin where we tend to ignore what is happening over it and assume anything that itches and flakes is just plain dandruff. Seborrhoeic Dermatitis: (also known as seborrhea)

This is limited to the hair margins and can also be seen in areas other than scalp like on the T zone of the face, also on the beard area and chest, which has oil glands.

This condition occurs due to the excess production of the sebum from the oil glands. Later it can be infected from yeast, Malassezia. It gets worse during summers as the oil production gets more and sweat is profuse in the scalp during summer.

Contact Dermatitis: (Allergic scalp)

• This appears as itchy scalp with redness, flaking and lesions.
• This condition occurs due to the allergic reaction of the scalp from any hair products or hair dyes (usually the black color dye which has active component Para Phenylenediamine), hair sprays. Can also occur from any allergic materials used on the scalp for long time like wigs made from synthetic materials (Synthetic hair allergy).It can also be identified as contact urticaria.
• Sometimes the similar allergic reactions can be seen on the eyelids too.
• Atopic or allergic tendency of the skin can also be observed on the scalp.
• This can be aggravated during summers as the scalp is more sensitive during summers especially who wear wigs all the day.

When the allergy causing agent is removed from the contact of the skin, the skin tries to get back to normalcy but in considerable cases, medical interventions are needed.

Any infections of the scalp

Scalp can be the suitable area of the skin to have their habitat for few infective microorganisms.

Head lice, are very common parasites that infest the scalp-causing itching and when it is severe can cause eruptions and even oozing of the blood. There are products available in the pharmacies which can be brought over the counter, if still persisting then needed medical intervention.

Scalp Ringworm, it is a fungal infection causing severe itching and rash. Here the hair might be lost in that area causing alopecia with skin becoming a scar tissue. Need medical intervention.

All the infections tend to grow more during summers as the skin generally is moist in the scalp due to excess sweating.

Lichen Planus: (Lichen planopilaris):

Though lichen planus is more common on the trunk and limbs, in few individuals it affects the scalp causing severe itching, redness and sometimes permanent loss of the hairs.

There are many theories why this happens but usually physicians believe it is an auto immune disease.

Psoriasis of the Scalp

Very common type of psoriasis, initially starts as itching scalp with mild flaking and later on turns as thick lesions on the scalp spreading to all over the scalp if not treated. The skin has thick lesions raised around 1 mm from the skin surface, silver white flakes which are thick in consistency, itchy scalp and blood oozes when the crust of the lesion is removed.

• In summers there can be super added infections to the psoriatic lesions.
• Need long time scalp psoriasis treatment and regular washing of the scalp.

The dandruff is usually two types, powdery dandruff which is on the hair surface and the other type is scaly dandruff which is stuck to the scalp surface. There is mild itching of the scalp which gets relieved by regular head showers. If it is not relieved easily then it might be leading to any of the above mentioned conditions. Mrs. A* was a thirty five year old women who came to our clinic for recurrent bartholin gland cyst. The gynecologist whom she was consulting suggested minor surgery for the same; scared of the surgery she approached us. Bartholin glands are small secondary sexual glands present near the opening of vagina and it’s main function is lubrication. Just like any other gland it’s opening may also get clogged leading to accumulation of fluid causing painful fluid filled swelling. Sometimes these can also get infected by bacteria leading to accumulation of pus. Usually bartholin cysts feel like small painless lumps but when the cyst becomes infected it can be very painful.

Presenting complaints

Coming to the case of Mrs.A, as mentioned earlier she was about thirty five years old, and was suffering with recurrent bartholin cyst. About 5 days before monthly cycle she would start experiencing excruciating pain, the cyst would start swelling and after the cycle was over it would burst and mixture of fluid, blood and pus would come out. This had become a monthly affair and she started dreading as the period date was approaching. She was suffering with the problem from more than a year. Other complaints she had was pain lower back extending to left hip region and down the back of the thigh suggestive of sciatica. Her occupation was home maker, physically she was of an average height, and was on heavier side.

As per homeopathic case taking questions were asked to her to elicit the root cause of her disease, initially our queries were regarding her main problem. She revealed that when the cyst occurs the pain is so unbearable that she bursts out in anger for little things which she usually ignores otherwise. She becomes quarrelsome, children dread approaching her during those days. Once the cyst ruptures and pain comes down she is her usual amiable self.

Life story

More questions regarding her thoughts and sensation were asked?  Initially she was hesitant and enquired the doctor why all this is required? Doctor explained that unlike other system of medicines homeopathy treat each individual separately. For a simple cyst in repertory about hundred, two hundred remedies may come but in that only one would be suitable to her. For individualizing the medicine besides the common disease symptoms, her emotions, thoughts, sensations, likes/dislikes, sleep, daily habits all are considered to arrive at the similimum, only then her problem would be solved from root level.

After hearing doctor’s explanation, she revealed that i keep thinking why only me? Why i am only suffering? Maybe i did some kind of bad deeds that’s why god is punishing me like this? I am unable to have a normal sexual life with my husband as it causes pain? What if my husband goes to another woman? This thoughts torment me. Doctor would i be able to lead a normal life? Will the cyst go away permanently? I don’t like to undergo surgery. I am very scared, what if it turns malignant? And started weeping and said I didn’t share this with anyone doctor, but when i went for my second delivery i came to know that in my absence my husband was visiting another woman. When i came back we had a huge fight, I threatened to call panchayat, he asked for forgiveness and said he will no longer keep any illicit relationship and not to reveal it to anyone. We patched up but i still have some resentment against him and also insecurity, what if it repeats again, then what will happen to me and my children? More questions were asked about her childhood, past medical history, family history and physical generals.

Past History

She revealed she was the only daughter for her parents, and had three brothers. Being only daughter she was quite pampered, she liked someone when she was around eighteen years old but parents did not agree as he belongs to another caste. After marriage she adjusted well, did not have any issues except that one incident. There was an episode of typhoid fever when she was about sixteen years old. Obstetrics history indicated two natural deliveries after which she underwent family planning surgery.

Physical generals were all normal, dreams of waterfalls and traveling. Thermals were hot.

Homeopathy Treatment for Bartholin Gland Cyst

After gathering all case details the case was analyzed and the following rubrics were considered-ailments from betrayal, ailments from indignation, suppressed anger, fear cancer, and cysts. Accordingly a single dose of Natrum mur 200 was given. Next cycle there was no bartholin gland cyst, but second cycle again cyst appeared though pain was slightly reduced than previous, Natrum mur 200 was again repeated again. Now it is more than a year, there has been no sign of bartholin cyst and the patient is very happy. This is the beauty of constitutional homeopathy. Pain is a common symptom of innumerable diseases. But here we will be talking of pain in Arthritis. Arthritis is derived from two words “Arthro” means joint and “itis” means inflammation. Hence arthritis is inflammation of the joint. A single joint is made-up of many components. A joint (whichever it may be) includes- 2 or multiple bones, muscles, ligaments, synovial fluid, blood vessels, and nerves. Any deviation or problem in any of these components can lead to pain in the joint. There are different types of arthritis. The most common form of arthritis is osteoarthritis. Infectious arthritis/ Septic arthritis – A bacterium, virus, or fungus that enters a joint can sometimes cause inflammation. This arthritis should be treated quickly otherwise it may result in irreversible damage to the affected joint.

Metabolic arthritis – This arthritis has disturbed uric acid metabolism in which uric acid builds up and forms needle-like crystals in the joints, resulting in sudden spikes of extreme joint pain. Example- Gout.

Arthritis of an auto-immune disease – This type of arthritis occurs when the body’s immune system attacks the tissues of the body, specifically connective tissue, leading to joint inflammation, pain, and degeneration of the joint tissue. Example: RA, SLE, Sjogren’s syndrome.

Arthritis is predominantly a disease of the elderly, but children can also be affected by the disease. Arthritis is more common in women than in men. There is no single cause of all types of arthritis. The causes vary according to the type of arthritis whereas possible causes include: injury- leading to degenerative arthritis, abnormal metabolism- leading to gout and pseudo gout, inheritance- such as in osteoarthritis, immune system dysfunction- as in RA and SLE. Some people may be genetically more likely to develop certain arthritic conditions. Additional factors, such as infection, smoking, and physically demanding occupations, can interact with genes to further increase the risk of arthritis. Gout is one type of arthritis that is closely linked to diet, as it is caused by elevated levels of uric acid which can be a result of a diet high in purines.

The symptoms of arthritis appear and how they appear to vary widely, depending on the type. Pain, which can vary in severity, is a common symptom in virtually all types of arthritis. Other symptoms include swelling, joint stiffness, tenderness, and difficulty moving the affected joints. Some forms of autoimmune arthritis, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), can affect multiple organs and cause widespread symptoms. Arthritis in childhood can cause permanent damage to joints; this is called Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).

Treatment for these joint pains taken is mostly the painkillers. Painkillers acts physiologically and decreases the pain temporarily within few hours. The treatment is restricted to pain whatever may be the cause for it. Whatever may be the diagnosis- may be the osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or gout the conventional medicine does have only the medicines which relieves the pain for sometime but the underlying pathology is the same. Though the patient takes the painkillers daily, they are not able to do their daily chores normally.

As for example if a person is having knee pains due to osteoarthritis of knee joint and is prescribed painkiller and some calcium supplements. They take the tablets regularly to avoid pain but the degeneration of knee is in progress, because there is no treatment of the cause. And though the patient is taking the so-called treatment with lots of side-effects in it, the condition worsens with time and after few years they need to think for the knee replacement.

Viruses establish infection by entering cells often through specific cell surface receptors. They use the host cell machinery for their replication and in many instances this replication machinery is error-prone, allowing many mutated forms to emerge. It is beneficial to the infecting virus not to kill the host cell. Viruses adapt various survival strategies, such as prolonged latency (HIV) or rapid transmission to a new host (Corona, influenza).

The innate immune response plays a crucial role in viral elimination. Viral nucleic acids are recognized by the toll-like receptors leading to the activation of interferon responsive elements and production of type 1 interferons. These cytokines bind to the type 1 IFN receptors and activate the JAK-STAT pathway which in turn activates several genes including 2’-5’-oligo-adenylate synthetase. This leads to the activation of a ribonuclease that degrades viral RNA. Other genes that contribute to the antiviral activity are also activated, including dsRNA-dependent protein kinase (PKR), a dsDNA dependent protein kinase that causes inactivation of protein synthesis, and thus, viral replication. Many other cell types such as macrophages, monocytes, and fibroblasts produce IFNs and interleukin (IL)-12 is an important cytokine produced during the innate response.

Failure of these responses results in dormancy or chronicity of the infection. Viruses have developed a variety of mechanisms to subvert the immune effector mechanisms directed against them, and thus, ensure their survival.
